FAQ MLC Oktoberfest Meeting
General:
How long has the MLC Oktoberfest Meeting been around?
The MLC Oktoberfest Meeting will take place for the 46th time in 2025. The first official MLC event was held in 1979.
Is GaySunday at Bräurosl an MLC event?
GaySunday is a registered trademark of the MLC and the name of the Oktoberfest event held as part of the annual MLC Oktoberfest Meeting. The MLC event takes place in the Bräurosl tent on the east balcony. The MLC has its own reserved area there. The MLC is delighted with the consistently cooperative and collaborative partnership with Peter Reichert and Franziska Kohlpaintner, the Bräurosl festival hosts, at this very special Oktoberfest event.
In addition, the first Sunday of Oktoberfest at the Bräurosl is generally and often referred to in the press as GaySunday, because in addition to the MLC, many other queer clubs, organizations, and individuals have reservations, and the tent is almost entirely in queer hands on this day.
How did the Gay Sunday tradition come about?
The tradition dates back to the MLC, which reserved seats for its guests at the Bräurosl for the first time in 1979 (there had already been meetings at Schottenhamel and other tents since 1972). The then festival host Heide assumed that the “Münchner Löwen Club” was a fan club of the Munich-based soccer club calling themselves „Die Löwen“. The surprise at the guests in black leather was correspondingly great.
Who can participate in the MLC Oktoberfest meeting?
Ticket packages and tickets are only sold to adults. You must confirm this when purchasing online. In addition, some events at the MLC Oktoberfest meeting are men only, meaning that only people who are clearly male will be admitted. This applies to:
- Piss, Fist & Fuck Party at the UnderGround
- Löwennacht at the UnderGround
- Löwenbrunch at the Oberanger Theater
- GaySunday at Bräurosl (for he MLC reservation area)
What is the MLC voucher booklet?
The MLC voucher booklet is your program guide for the long weekend of the Oktoberfest meeting. In addition to the weekend overview and other useful information, you will also find a variety of vouchers from our partners. With the vouchers, you can shop with the respective discounts during the promotional periods listed on the back of the vouchers. Some vouchers are valid in the respective shops in Munich; others are valid in the corresponding online shops. Have fun bargain hunting!
Are photos allowed at the events?
At most Oktoberfest Meeting events, many photos are taken of the participants. Photographers from the MLC itself are also present to take pictures for social media and for promotional purposes.
If you do not agree to having photos taken of you in a particular situation, please inform the photographers directly and ask them to delete any photos taken. If you encounter any problems, please contact the MLC support team.
If you take photos yourself, please ensure that all persons visible in the photo agree to this.
Please note that filming and photography are prohibited in the UnderGround during parties. Please leave your camera and cell phone in your locker.

Partner organizations may invite to an additional dinner event.
If the weather is suitable, the Isarbikers may invite to a motorcycle ride.
Which events do I need a ticket for?
The MLC Oktoberfest meeting consists of the following events:
- Meet & Greet at Sub: No ticket required.
- Guided tour of the Oktoberfest grounds: Tickets only available individually in the online shop. The tour is not included in any ticket package.

How do I show my ticket at the respective event?
You will receive your ticket package in a plastic sleeve with a lanyard to wear around your neck. Depending on the ticket package you have booked, various labels with QR codes for the events are affixed to the plastic sleeve. These QR codes are required for scanning at the entrance. Therefore, please make sure that they are not damaged or lost. If you photograph the QR code, please ensure that the image quality is sufficient. Each QR code is only valid for one-time admission.
After scanning your ticket, you will receive a wristband so that you can enter and exit as you please (does not apply to the evening parties at UnderGround).
For the guided tour of the Oktoberfest grounds, you will receive a confirmation e-mail after booking in the online shop, which also contains a QR code. This must be brought along to the tour in digital or paper form for scanning.
Advance tickets for the UnderGround parties (Piss, Fist & Fuck on Friday and Löwennacht on Saturday) purchased in the SpeXter shop will be issued in the form of a paper ticket with a QR code.
Why is there no general ticket for all Oktoberfest events?
Our guests are very individual and not all of them want to participate in and pay for all Oktoberfest events. With an all-inclusive ticket, we would also have to reserve seats for package holders. On the one hand, this would result in seats not being used, and on the other hand, guests who only want to attend individual events would not be able to obtain tickets. In addition, some events are men only, while others are open to all genders.
How do I get my ticket package(s) and what do I need to pick them up?
If the shipping option was not booked, ticket packages purchased in the online shop must be picked up at the SpeXter shop:
- Address: Müllerstraße 54, 80469 Munich
- Opening hours: Monday to Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m
An ID document must be presented for pickup. A physical ID card, passport, or driver's license is accepted (photos or ID apps from other countries are not accepted). This is for your security, to prevent unauthorized persons from picking up ticket packages.
Alternatively, an informal power of attorney can be issued to a person who picks up the ticket package for you (the pick-up person). This must include the full name and address of the ticket purchaser as well as a copy of their ID. It must also include the full name of the collector. The collector must also present their ID (this also applies to spouses; first and last names will be checked).
If the shipping option was selected at the time of purchase, the ticket packages will be sent as insured parcels via DHL.
It is not possible to hand over ticket packages at the Oktoberfest meeting events.
Why is the shipping of the ticket packages so expensive?
When calculating shipping costs, we have to take into account not only the pure costs of postal delivery, but also irregularities in postal delivery (returns due to incorrect addresses or addresses not found by the postal service, repeat shipments, handling of insurance issues in the event of loss in the mail, etc.).
As a general rule, we ask all guests to only select the shipping option if it is absolutely necessary. This is because the packages for all guests attending the Oktoberfest meeting are put together by our volunteers. Given the number of guests, this is a huge undertaking. Preparing and sending the packages by post increases this workload even further.
Am I allowed to re-sell my ticket-packages?
Yes, you can sell them without surcharges. When you have already picked up the physical ticket-packages you need simply to hand them over to the buyer. When you have not picked them up yet, send the Buyer the PDF ticket and a signed authority with your and the buyer’s data which he has to present as a print-out to Spexter at pick-up.
When will ordered ticket-packages be sent out?
Approximately one week after end of presales the physical packages will be packed and sent via DHL.
GaySunday at the Bräurosl
How do I get to the Bräurosl?
We recommend using public transportation to get there. The area around the Oktoberfest grounds is largely closed to traffic. If you plan to drink beer, you should definitely avoid traveling by bicycle or similar means of transportation.
The Oktoberfest grounds are easily accessible by public transportation from several directions:
- From the north, the Hackerbrücke S-Bahn station is the best option, with the Oktoberfest grounds just a few minutes' walk away. Alternatively, you can use the Theresienwiese U-Bahn station, which is the busiest.
- From the south, the Poccistraße U-Bahn station is closest to the Oktoberfest grounds.
- AThe walk from the main station is also not too far and is signposted.
How do I find the right entrance at the Bräurosl?
The entrances to all Wiesn tents are labeled and numbered according to their compass direction. Our entrance is on the east side and has the number 4 (hence O4). Our MLC beach flag is also located here. Immediately after the outer door, you will find the stairs on the right that lead to the balcony and the MLC reservation area. Our helpers are also here to check admissions and are happy to answer any questions.
Can I enter the tent if it is closed due to overcrowding?
MLC guests receive their own wristbands on GaySunday. Security at entrance O4 has been instructed by the festival tent management to allow guests with this wristband to enter and exit at any time. Please wear your wristband in a clearly visible place at all times to make security's job easier.
If the outer door is closed, please knock and show your wristband (or, if you do not have one yet, your ticket package) to security.
Please note that during the reservation changeover at the Bräurosl (approx. 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.), access may be temporarily restricted as security is busy clearing individual areas of the tent.
Can I go to all areas of the Bräurosl with my MLC wristband?
The MLC wristband allows you to leave and re-enter the tent via entrance O4 at any time (even when it is overcrowded). It also allows you access to the balcony and the MLC reservation area.
For other areas of the tent (e.g., boxes on the ground floor), there are other wristbands, and therefore no access with your MLC wristband. In addition, the festival organizers urge all MLC guests to remain in the MLC reservation area to avoid overcrowding in other parts of the tent. Security is responsible for defusing overcrowded areas. Therefore, you may be asked to leave overcrowded areas and return to the MLC reservation area. The instructions of the security staff must be followed.
In addition, our reservation area must have a sufficient number of guests throughout the day, otherwise the festival tent management may assign other guests to our area.
What luggage can I bring with me?
For several years now, security checks have been carried out at the entrances to the Oktoberfest grounds. All backpacks, bags, and similar containers are checked here. Items above a certain size must be handed in at the luggage storage facility. The current rules can be found on the official Oktoberfest website: www.oktoberfest.de/en/information
There is no luggage storage facility in the Bräurosl itself. Items can only be stored under the benches/tables. This is at your own risk; the MLC accepts no liability for lost or damaged items. Although our admission controls prevent unauthorized persons from accessing our reservation area, guests who are under the influence of alcohol may accidentally confuse or damage something. We therefore strongly recommend that you do not bring anything with you other than what you are wearing.
What can I wear and/or bring with me?
There is no dress code for GaySunday, so “normal” street clothes are also acceptable. Experience has shown that many guests come in traditional costumes. Street-appropriate fetish outfits are also welcome (at least the intimate areas must be covered). Please note that it can get very warm in the tent, especially in bad weather when the windows cannot be opened.
There is no cloakroom for jackets etc. at Bräurosl. These can only be stored under the benches/tables. This is at your own risk; MLC accepts no liability for lost or damaged clothing. Although our admission controls prevent unauthorized persons from accessing our reservation area, guests who are under the influence of alcohol may accidentally mix up items of clothing. We therefore strongly recommend that you bring as little as possible with you apart from what you are wearing.
Does the ticket package include a seat reservation at a specific table?
The ticket packages do not include exclusive seat reservations. The number of tickets sold is calculated so that all MLC guests have a seat in the reservation area when the tables are fully occupied.
Ticket holders of the “Party Lion Package“ will be guided by our team of helpers to one of the tables reserved for the evening reservation with the snack platter.
How do the vouchers in the ticket package work?
In addition to the MLC voucher booklet, the plastic sleeve of your ticket package contains several tokens for the Bräurosl festival tent, depending on the package you have booked. There are two types of paper tokens:
- Beer token with a corresponding monetary value
- ½ chicken token with a corresponding monetary value
The tokens can only be redeemed with the Bräurosl wait staff. The other service providers in the tent who sell pretzels, accessories, or similar items from a vendor's tray cannot accept the tokens. The Bräurosl tokens are also not accepted in other Oktoberfest tents.
The easiest way to redeem them is, of course, to order what the token is intended for (beer token for one liter of beer). It should be noted that the tokens correspond to a monetary value without service charge and tip. The service charge to be paid is indicated on the token (in 2024 it was €1.50), and the waiters are happy to receive an appropriate tip in addition to the service charge.
The monetary value of the chicken token can also be used to pay for other food. The difference must then be paid in cash. It should be noted that the waiters do not give change if the value of the token exceeds the price of the product purchased.
Are the tokens from my package worthless after GaySunday?
The tokens can be used in the Bräurosl throughout the entire Oktoberfest period, even after GaySunday. Even after Oktoberfest, the tokens can be used for payment in the Donisl restaurant in Munich for a limited period (usually until Christmas).
Can I pay by card in the Bräurosl?
Card payments are NOT yet possible in all Oktoberfest tents. The waiters at Bräurosl only accept cash payments in euros. There is an ATM available in the tent. Nevertheless, we recommend that you bring sufficient cash with you to the event.
When should I arrive at Bräurosl?
If you have the “Classic Package”, please be at Bräurosl by 11:30 a.m. at the latest. At this time, our reservation area must have a sufficient number of guests, otherwise the festival tent management may assign other guests to our area. The Oktoberfest grounds are open from 9:00 a.m., and the tent is also open for you from then on. The official start of the event is indicated on your ticket: 10:30 a.m.
If you have the “Party Lion Package”, please be at the entrance to meet our team of helpers between 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.
If you arrive after 6:00 p.m., you may miss out on the snack platter included in your ticket. There is no entitlement to a replacement. Please also note that with this evening reservation, admission is not permitted before 5:00 p.m., as this is when the reservation change takes place throughout the tent. Our team of helpers will guide you to one of the tables reserved for the evening reservation with the snack platter.
Where can I find the restrooms?
The MLC reservation area is located in the middle of the eastern balcony. There are two access points on each side. There are also toilets on both sides. On GaySunday, all toilets on the balcony are men's toilets or all-gender toilets. This only applies to this day and only to the balcony!
Where can I find the smoking area?
The MLC reservation area is located in the middle of the eastern balcony. There are two access points on each side. There is a smoking balcony on the south side. This can be accessed through a wooden door.
Awareness: Where can I find help, who can answer my questions?
You will find an MLC team of helpers at all Oktoberfest events. Our volunteers wear name tags and are therefore easy to recognize. Please feel free to contact them if you have any questions or problems.
Oktoberfest beer has a higher alcohol content than regular beers, so please be mindful of your alcohol consumption and that of your friends. If you or someone else needs help or is threatened in the Bräurosl, please inform security and our MLC helpers immediately.
What rules of conduct apply in the Bräurosl?
The same rules of conduct apply to GaySunday as on any other day in the Bräurosl and the other Wiesn tents. In particular:
- Sexual acts are not permitted, nor is the exposure of genitals.
- Dancing on the benches and tables is not permitted on the balcony, especially in the front area, where there is a risk of falling or objects falling on guests on the ground floor (risk of injury).
We wish all our guests a fantastic GaySunday at the Bräurosl. However, please ensure that you consume beer in moderation (Oktoberfest beer has a higher alcohol content than regular beers) to avoid problematic situations. Our helpers are also responsible for ensuring that all our guests feel comfortable. In the event of excessive inappropriate behavior, they may (if necessary, with the support of security in the tent) expel guests from the reservation area.
What items are prohibited?
The following items, among others, are prohibited on the festival grounds and in the tents:
- Your own drinks and food
- Blunt, stabbing, and firearms of any kind
- Hunting knives
- Bicycles
- Drugs (including marijuana)
Carrying such items may result in expulsion from the premises, in the tents by security, and on the Oktoberfest grounds also by the police.
